Drivechains can capture the value of use cases where Bitcoin currently gets outcompeted (privacy, low fee transactions, smart contracts, DAOs, prediction markets, etc) while keeping L1 the same. All that value already left Bitcoin in the form of altcoins, developers HAD to make a separate coin because Bitcoin couldn't do what they wanted.

After eCash wins, users will be able to choose new consensus rules (drivechains) one coin at a time instead of needing 51%+ of hashpower. Which is why holy wars will end.
